The Vestal Violators have decided that they need a cast logo. Something that can be easily identified as a symbol of "Rocky Horror-Binghamton". Something that can be used in promotional materials and official cast merchandise. Think you're up to the task of creating one? Well then, read the rules below and then pull out your pencils and your markers or fire up your computer and get crackin'!

Contest details, rules and regulations

This is a contest to design a logo for "The Vestal Violators" (also known as "Rocky Horror-Binghamton"), a shadowcast of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" located in Binghamton, NY. The winning logo design will be used in cast promotional materials and on official cast merchandise.

Design rules

1. The design must be [fairly] simple as it will be reproduced in a number of different ways.

2. Designs can be done/submitted in either "black and white" or in full color. If you choose to do it in color, try to stick to the three basic "Rocky colors": Black, red and white.

2a. Entries may not contain gradients.

3. The use of text in the logo is ok. However limit the text to "The Vestal Violators", "Vestal Violators", "Rocky Horror-Binghamton", "VV" or "V.V.". Use of text is cAsE sEnSiTvE!

4. You may NOT use any copyrighted images, such as stills from the movie or production pictures! Or pictures in general.

5. The design does not have to be 100% "kid friendly", but it must not be offensive either. A good rule of thumb to follow would be: "Would this logo cause a serious problem for a person wearing it, in a park, on sunny afternoon?"

Ideas to help jog your creativity (you do not have to use any of these, they're just "prompts"): A [messed up] carousel, the Binghamton skyline, the physical shape of Broome County, New York State (we're the only regular performing cast in all of Upstate, that we know of), "VV" used as a pair of "fangs" or "lips"...

Contest rules

1. The contest runs from August 23, 2006 until September 27, 2006.

2. All entries must be received by September 27, 2006. Any entries received after that date will not be considered.

3. Entries may be submitted by sending them to rhpsbinghamton@yahoo.com. Please use the subject header "Violator logo contest" so as to avoid the SPAM blocker/junk bin!

4. You may submit multiple entries but please do not enter slight variations of your design separately. Enter them as a single entry.

5. Acceptable file formats for entries are: BMP, GIF, JPG and PSD (with all layers and elements intact).

6.When submitting an entry, include your full (real) name and contact info other than your e-mail address (ie your address or phone number). This information will only be used, as contact info, in the event your entry wins the contest. Your information will NOT be shared with anyone or made public.

6a. Entries submitted without any contact info will NOT be considered.

7. Beginning on September 28, 2006, all entries will be placed on the Vestal Violators' website (in a random, anonymous order) for voting.

8. Voting will take place from September 28 to October 24, 2006. Any person with access to the Internet may vote for their favorite design.

9. The winning entry will ultimately be chosen by the members of the Vestal Violators. The design with the most public votes (as determined by the poll results on the website) will receive 1 (one) cast vote. (A vote equal to the vote of any single cast member)

10.The person who designed the winning entry shall receive the following: A copy of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" on DVD, a DVD of "Shock Treatment", 4 (four) free passes to a future Vestal Violator performance, a t-shirt with the logo on it, a certificate naming them an honorary cast member, and they will have their "virginity" ceremoniously reinstated and can be ________ at a future "Vestal Violator" show by the cast member(s) of their choice.

11. The client, "The Vestal Violators", will be granted the full rights to all aspects of the winning entry as a work-for-hire in exchange for the prize(s) mentioned in these rules.
